2 Weeks Late

I’ve been busy lately.

I landed in London on May 26.

I spent about 2 days getting adjusted to the time. And a few more getting adjusted to the fact that I packed up a significant portion of my belongings and took off to the UK for approximately 3 months with very little plan or planning.

I’ve spent the past 2 weeks exploring new things in London, caring for animals and contemplating everything.

I’m a planner. I like to have everything planned out and organized so nothing can go wrong. So what am I doing in London?

Well, I spent over a week cat sitting the loveliest little black cat with ginger marks and wandering around Wandsworth, London.

I’ve been to London before, but it’s been nearly 6 years since the last time. This time I’m just starting a much larger adventure. I visited my favorite museum, Tate Modern, and even took an Uber Boat down the Thames to get there! If you like modern art and are visiting London, I highly recommend it. And like many museums in the UK, it’s free!

That day was pretty busy for me (in terms of touristing) since I also walked over the Millennium Bridge. It had just rained a bit and was very slippery and I’m afraid of heights so I felt anxious the entire time and as I neared the end a child walked past me and said, “If we fall, we die.” So that was fun.

That smile is full of nerves.

Since I was cat sitting in a small flat in Putney, I was able to buy groceries and cook for myself. I find cooking very soothing and not spending tons of money also a bit calming. When you’re anxious but challenging yourself to try something big and new, it’s ok to do some things that make your current situation more like what you’re familiar with. I also find comfort in going on walks so I took myself on a walk everyday that went to nowhere in particular. One day I ended up in Wandsworth Park, another Putney Heath (which is a wooded area with a number of trails), and another Barnes (which is a pretty posh area in Southwest London). I enjoy a wander and each of these rambles took me somewhere lovely.

I also went out to Richmond to see where they film Ted Lasso, but there was some set up going on for the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II so it wasn’t quite film-worthy that morning.

Overall, I’d say that for most people it wouldn’t have been considered an exciting time in London, but I enjoyed myself immensely. You can see some more photos on my Instagram.
